5 Unconventional Uses for Botox You May Not Know About

For over twenty years, Botox has been the "it" treatment for patients wishing to treat forehead wrinkles and frown lines without having to undergo the knife.

But with each passing year, skilled injectors and health professionals are discovering even more off-label uses for this wonder substance. Today, I would like to let you in on some of the unconventional ways I like to use neuromodulators (including Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Daxxify, and Jeuveau) at my aesthetics practice.

Nasal Flare Reduction-

If an excessive nasal flare is holding you back from flashing those pearly whites, all you need is 2-4 units of Botox to reduce this unsightly condition and improve the appearance of your nose. Note: While many injectors also use Botox to lift the tip of the nose, I personally prefer PDO threads for what I like to call the "Tinkerbell lift".

Gummy Smile Correction-

A gummy smile, medically known as excessive gingival display, occurs when a person's upper gums are prominently visible when smiling, often overshadowing the teeth. By strategically injecting 4-6 units of Botox into the muscles responsible for elevating the upper lip, the muscles are temporarily relaxed, preventing the lip from rising too high and exposing excessive gum tissue.

Lip Flip-

Wanting to enhance the appearance of your upper lip more subtly than with traditional injectable fillers? Do you also suffer with gummy smile? By injecting 4-6 units in the muscles above the lip, the top lip appears fuller- even while smiling,

Chin Enhancement-

For patients wishing to give their recessed chin a little more projection, I can inject the overactive mentalis muscle with Botox to drop and relax the area. For patients wishing to correct skin texture on the chin, 6-8 units will smooth unsightly craters and wrinkling.

Facial Slimming-

If you love the look of a snatched facial profile but struggle with overdeveloped or overused masseters (jaw muscles), injecting typically 20-30 units per side not only slims the lower face, but can reduce the TMJ and headaches often inherent with this condition.
